The Black & Tan Coonhound's coat is short and dense. It protects him from the rough brush they encounter when tracking down their prey. This breed is black and has tan marks over his eyes, on the side of his muzzle, at the back of his thighs, on his chest, and legs. In addition to that, there are markings on his toes that seem like they're made using black pencils. Brushing must be done 2-3 times every week using a firm-bristled brush or hound mitt to keep their hairs from floating everywhere in the house and spread skin oils.
Checking and cleaning these dogs' ears every week is necessary. Bathe them when needed, too. Also, don't forget dental and nail care. Toothbrushing can be done 2-3 times a week, but it's better to do it every day to avoid bad breath and gum problems. Make an appointment at your vet Westminster, MD for your pet’s health and dental checks.
